Nearly anyone can have a chemical peel, regardless of your skin type or color. While some other treatments can only be used on certain skin tones, chemical peels are amazing for most any skin type. Depending on your skin color or type, we may recommend certain peels over others.
Results
Chemical peels are known for helping to reverse the effects of sun damage, aging, and other skin conditions in a short appointment. Peels improve skin’s appearance by removing dead skin cells and promoting the growth of new ones. It can be used on the face, the neck, the chest, and even the back to treat fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, scarring from breakouts, and hyperpigmentation. You may want to come in for multiple peels, depending on the concerns you want treated.
Acids
There are many acids that can be used in a chemical peel, including but not limited to, alphahydroxy acids (AHA), trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol. Lactic acid and fruit acids may be used in more gentle peels. After the peel is applied, you may experiences a slight burning that can last for a few minutes. That’s totally normal and means that the peel is effective. Generally, treatment time is less than an hour. After your peel is complete, you will need to take care of your skin a little more carefully.
Aftercare
Care for your skin gently, and baby it as much as possible. Avoid using actives from your skincare routine until your skin has healed and stopped peeling. Stay out of the sun as much as possible, or wear sunscreen to help protect the new skin as it is revealed.
