Which has more swelling – an open or closed approach to rhinoplasty?

There are different incisions that are used in rhinoplasty.  In cases when an inside-only incision is used, depending on what portion of the nose is shaped swelling may be slightly less over time.  In cases when the tip of the nose is being shaped with an outside, or open, incision, the skin may be more swollen temporarily.  However, an open approach is used frequently to visualize the nasal cartilages directly when making changes.
