What is the difference between a breast lift and a breast augmentation?

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a procedure that ‘lifts’ primarily the nipple/areolar area along with the lower portion of the breast; it will involve removal of a small amount of breast tissue and primarily skin.  A breast augmentation usually involves placement of an implant to increase breast volume and size.
