Facelift or Fillers: What You Need to Know
- Posted on: Sep 15 2017
A lot has changed over the course of the last century. Rarely do we have to wait for anything these days; food, a phone call, and even for cosmetic treatments. Where the signs of aging used to be treatable only with surgery, there are now numerous non-surgical methods of smoothing lines, lifting brows, and sharpening the jawline. We understand the value of injectables and other non-surgical treatments, and we offer a few here in our Boston office. At the same time, we also know that every case is unique, and should be seen as such.
We are taught to not make assumptions in life, and yet it’s just so easy to do that we may assume certain things without even knowing it. Here’s an example:
Fillers and Botox are better than facelift surgery for a natural result.
You don’t have to look far to see this message. Sometimes it even comes from well-meaning physicians. The truth is, though, that it is not difficult to get natural results from facelift surgery. It just takes a bit of effort in finding a good cosmetic surgeon. On the flip side, it is also possible to detract from your natural aesthetic without surgery. Over-filled lips that create a perpetual “duck pout” serve as a prime example. Fillers and Botox can reduce certain signs of aging, but are not a solution for every person.
Surgery costs more than injectable anti-aging treatments.
It is easy to assume that surgery will cost more than a few visits with a skilled injector. Initially, this is true. Men and women who begin treating the signs of aging early may, in fact, achieve their desired outcome of postponing surgical lifts. However, individuals who’ve got several concerns, including neck bands, sagging jowls, deep lines, heavy eyelids, and more may invest more in their effort to avoid surgery. Individualized treatment is needed to not only preserve a youthful aesthetic but to do so in the most cost-effective manner.
