Sinus infections and rhinoplasty / septoplasty

Patients often ask, “Will my sinus infections change after a septoplasty or rhinoplasty?”  On occasion, when a patient has a tendency to have sinus infections, a sinus infection may occur within months after nasal surgery.  The sinus drainage patterns are different from the septum and external nose, and so having surgery does not typically cause a sinus infection, per se….
