Light at the end of the tunnel

One of my favorite patients had her nipple-areola tattooing this past week and her husband had remarked to me what a difference breast reconstruction had made in her life… She was a patient who had, from the beginning, several decisions to make relating to chemotherapy and ultimately planning reconstruction. Breast reconstruction, to coordinate with planned therapy, is ultimately secondary to certainly cancer treatment, but a close second at that!

  1. Being diagnosed with breast cancer was shocking, to say the least. The team of doctors at BIDMC were so caring and helpful throughout the process when I had to make many difficult treatment decisions. Having breast reconstruction following bilateral mastectomy was the right decision for me. The healing time was faster and the end result was nothing less than amazing! There is life after breast cancer! I feel whole again, thanks to Dr. Lin, and the team of dedicated doctors and nurses that were in my corner.
