The reason I want to write you this card is to thank you for all you’ve done for me, during this journey in my life. But now that I’ve started to write about my gratitude, I realize that I can’t really think of words that are sufficient to convey my thankfulness. This time has been so scary for me, and your compassion and kindness toward me has been so reassuring and soothing. I can’t even tell you how much it’s meant to me. The patience and good humor you displayed in reading my letters prior to my surgery….Obviously, I have control issues! Even though I’m the patient, and you are the doctor, you always make me feel that I’m part of the team. I’m sure that in this career of yours you have come to grasp an understanding of what a woman’s breasts can mean to her; they are a somewhat sacred part of her body and self. I don’t think I even understood this until I was faced with having mine removed, due to cancer. The option of reconstruction has been one beacon of hope; the only lighthouse guiding me to a port, while I weather this storm. It’s been rough, but to carry the metaphor forward, my ship is strong, and I thank God for your light! I know I’ll be stronger at the end of all this. But what would I have done without you and your staff? I don’t know. Considering I’m having my hysterectomy next week it’s been one assault after another on my womanhood! Because of you, I know I can look forward to a future, where I’ll be having some sense of my female identity restored to me. And someday this crisis will be over, and I can help others who face the same kind of storms.
I just want you to know how pleased I am with the results of my surgery you performed in June. The results far exceed my expectations, even while I’m healing! Not only are you extremely professional, but you are caring and reassuring. I had given up hope that I would be “normal” again after the birth of my second child. You have given me a new lease on life and have restored my confidence. Your staff is wonderful and helped to add to my positive experience. Thank you again!
Words seem inadequate to express my gratitude (and amazement!) for what you have done for me. Dr. Lin was fantastic! I was very nervous to get have a breast reduction done, but he walked me through the entire process and made me feel very comfortable with the whole thing. The procedure was quick, and I experienced little pain after the first day. It was more of a discomfort that faded a little each day. My incisions healed quickly and didn’t give me any trouble. Since my surgery, the back and neck pain I’ve struggled with for a long time has lessened substantially. I’m so glad that I went through with this surgery and used such an amazing doctor!
After meeting with several “top” plastic surgeons in the Boston area, my daughter and I unanimously selected Dr. Lin to perform her procedure. He could not have been better!!! He has a world-class background and a conservative thought process. In addition, he was incredibly supportive and comforting throughout. Needless to state, her outcome was as he planned and we are thrilled. Before selecting a “flashy” MD, I would HIGHLY consider meeting with Dr. Lin. The concept of attending a rotation at Harvard was initially intimidating. Dr. Lin’s personal and very friendly demeanor quickly dispelled any anxiety I had. My clinical telehelth rotation with Dr. Lin was a pleasure. The online learning modules were very thoroughly designed and covered every aspect of plastic surgery over the month duration. Each day we read articles and covered different topics. Then in the evenings we met by video conference and discussed that day’s readings. Our discussions were extremely insightful and rewarding. Sessions included visual/video representations of the procedures we studied that day. Everything was based around our interest, whichever topic we wanted to look more deeply into, Dr. Lin had plenty of material to help us understand. After completing my month long rotation, I have a better understanding of the entire field of plastic surgery. The course further deepened my interest in the field.
Dr. Lin was my life saver. The surgery he performed on my face was extremely delicate, challenging and successful. Just so the breadth of his work on me is understood, I’m including the following details to help understand his incredible expertise. I had a very unfortunate accident where I fractured my eye socket, cheek bone, maxillary sinus wall and dislocated of my lower jaw bone all on the left side of my face. My face was sunken in and my eye socket distorted. I really didn’t understand just how severe the damage was until I saw the Cat Scan. Dr. Lin completely reconstructed and sculptured the broken side of my face using titanium. He is an artist. He was able to do this reconstruction on me avoiding cutting the ‘outside’ of my face. There is no visible hint of a cut or surgery. Unless I tell people about my facial reconstruction they have no idea. I look like myself again! In addition Dr Lin is the nicest, kindest doctor. I would put my life in his hands again and again. Thank you Dr Lin.
