I undertook a 4wk virtual elective in Plastic Surgery under the tutelage of Dr Samuel Lin. The experience gave me an opportunity to learn fundamental concepts such as wound healing, grafts and flap transfer as well as advanced surgical techniques for breast reconstruction, cleft lip and palate repair, face lift, rhinoplasty, hand surgery and gender reassignment. It was an intense and rapid learning curve, but Dr Lin was supportive and guided us through the program providing us with teaching, learning materials, quizzes and videos of surgical procedures. I would highly recommend the elective.

The procedure and recovery went exactly as I was told upfront. If anything the recovery was quicker than I expected.

I recommend the virtual course because it is much easier to study at your own time, in addition to taking the exams also at your own pace. Virtual classes with Dr Lin are very entertaining and he shows us content that we would otherwise not be able to see in our daily practice.

Responds clearly and precisely to learner questions, connects information to broader concepts, communicates clear goals and expectations, and makes learning enjoyable. Dr Lin is a great surgeon, best mentor and scientist. He is one of the leading scientists and contributors in the advancement of the plastic surgery field. Despite his very busy schedule, he always finds time to guide and support his researchers no matter what. I was lucky enough to learn from Dr Lin and grateful for all the skills he taught me.
