Samuel J. Lin, MD, FACS

Dr. Lin is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, a double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is also Board Certified in Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery), and a full time member of the Harvard Medical Faculty Physician organization.  Dr. Lin completed full Plastic Surgery training and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery training programs at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.  He also was on staff previously at the world renowned M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX where he was involved in complex facial, breast, torso, and limb reconstructive procedures.

Currently Dr. Lin focuses his practice on facial aesthetics and nose reshaping/functional nasal reconstruction (rhinoplasty) for breathing problems and facial surgery, surgery after weight loss (body contouring), and breast reconstruction/DIEP flap reconstruction.   He also is involved in the full range of general reconstructive procedures.  Dr. Lin is on staff at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.

As a full time academic teaching member of the Harvard Plastic Surgery Training program, Dr. Lin also is involved in giving national presentations and publishing papers and books.  In 2005, Dr. Lin published the first edition of a series, with McGraw-Hill Publishing Company, of a educational review book for Plastic Surgeons-in-training and new Plastic Surgeons called Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Pearls of Wisdom.  In October 2010, Dr. Lin helped publish a surgical atlas for Body Contouring, or surgery after weight loss, entitled Atlas of Body Contouring after Weight Loss.  This is a surgical atlas detailing various techniques in body contouring procedures and surgery after weight loss.  In the summer of 2011, Dr. Lin's second edition of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Pearls of Wisdom book is set to be published.

Dr. Lin's practice consists of both reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery. His particular clinical interests include nasal obstruction, functional rhinoplasty, body contouring/surgery after weight loss, breast reconstruction (DIEP flap reconstruction) and revision; facial, oncologic (including Mohs reconstruction) and microvascular reconstruction as well as the full range of aesthetic procedures.
